Asamoah Gyan's sunny disposition is one of the most noticeable aspects of the Sunderland squad.
'Baby Jet'-an immensely popular figure amongst his team-mates - has had a constant smile on his face throughout pre-season as he looks to build on an 11-goal debut season.
Gyan, 25, has completed a gruelling fitness programme to get him back up to speed after being afforded extra time off due to summertime international commitments.
But now the electric frontman is back in action and almost marked his return with a goal in last night's 2-1 friendly win over Kilmarnock.
"I am always smiling - I cannot play football when I am angry or feeling emotions like that," he said after the game.
"Whenever I play I always make sure I am smiling. Also, it is my job to put smiles on people's faces because football is passion.
"I never put any pressure or negative emotion on myself and make sure I am in the best position to concentrate on doing my job on the pitch."
