Ghanaian striker Bernard Tekpetey was in action for German top-flight side Schalke when they defeated third tier side Paderborn 1-0 in a friendly on Saturday.

The Black Stars youngster came on a as a substitute for Caliguri in the 59th minute as he was given the chance to prove his worth.

The score remained 1-0 to the Royals when the whistle for full time was blown.

Although the substitutes played well, they failed to double Schalke’s lead, with Bernard Tekpetey coming closest to doing so just seconds before the whistle for full time.

The Ghanaian, who replaced Caligiuri, could only find the side-netting from 15 metres out.

Schalke’s next game comes against Besiktas in China, on Wednesday, July 19th.

The battle with the Turkish League winners is one of the two friendlies they will play there, with the other game coming against Italian Serie A side Inter Milan on Friday, July 21st.

The boys in blue travel to China on Sunday, July 16th.
