Ghana striker Jordan Ayew is set for more playing time at English side Aston Villa following his excellent showing in midweek in the League Cup match.

This comes after the Ghanaian attacker impressed in the second-half of their match against Birmingham which has sparked thoughts of his real talents.

Ayew had been struggling since he joined the club from Lorient which led to some criticism of his performances but his performance on Tuesday has sparked hopes for upcoming matches.

Ayew was asked to play a similar role to Gabby as a striker running the channels and stretching the game by drifting out wide and did so with intelligence, enthusiasm and no little skill.

Tim Sherwood believes he has a good idea how Liverpool will line-up against his Aston Villa side.

Speaking to reporters this morning at his pre-match press conference he said:

"Jordan Ayew did well the other night. He will grow and get better and we were very impressed with him."

Unfortunately, it seems that Sherwood's men still can't put two halves of football together and play a complete match.

A big reason for the second period success enjoyed by the Villans on Tuesday was the introduction of Jack Grealish and Jordan Ayew at halftime.

Ayew had his best game in a Villa shirt so far, and probably deserves to start against Liverpool. I'd bring Rudy Gestede off the bench, if the crossing game is still being played.

With the Ghanaian up top, Grealish can start on the left flank, with Carles Gil pigeonholed into a starting spot on the right wing. Scott Sinclair may end up being the odd man out.
