Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah was not played in English Premier League side Crystal Palace's final game of the season because the coach thinks he has not seen much of him.

Manager Alan Pardew was expected to give the Africa Cup of Nations revelation some playing time in the match against with Swansea City to show that the Ghanaian has some chance for the next season.

With nothing at stake as Palace has already secured their stay in the Premier League, dropping the Ghanaian player has not been popular.

But Pardew insists he left out the player for good reasons.

"It's unfair on them and it's unfair on me - I haven't seen enough of them," said the boss.

"Pre-season, for sure, they're going to get games.

"I've had a good look at some of my players who have been out on loan, like Sullay and Kwesi (Appiah), to get a good indication of where they're at.

"So none of them will be involved on Sunday."
