Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah will get the chance to prove if he can play in the English Premier League with his club Crystal Palace after spending much of the just-ended season out on loan.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says the Ghana international will be given the chance to impress during the club's pre-season in July.

The Black Stars attacker was a revelation at the Africa Cup of Nations in January and it was hopes he would earn a starting place at the Premier League side.

However he was sent out of loan to to second tier Reading which sparked fears that he will not have a long future with Palace.

Pardew insists with the pre-season for the club scheduled to start in July, the Ghana international and his other team-mate Sullay will get some playing time to prove their worth.

"It's unfair on them and it's unfair on me - I haven't seen enough of them," said the boss.

"Pre-season, for sure, they're going to get games.

"I've had a good look at some of my players who have been out on loan, like Sullay and Kwesi (Appiah), to get a good indication of where they're at."

Appiah was not played in English Premier League side Crystal Palace's final game of the season because the coach thinks he has not seen much of him.

Pardew was expected to give the Africa Cup of Nations revelation some playing time in the match against with Swansea City to show that the Ghanaian has some chance for the next season.

With nothing at stake as Palace has already secured their stay in the Premier League, dropping the Ghanaian player has not been popular.

But Pardew insists he left out the player for good reasons.
