Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah is to sit out of AFC Wimbledon's Saturday pre-season friendly at Eastleigh as the attacker has been given time to rest to postpone his debut for the English side.

The former Crystal Palace striker's has been excused from the friendly game but former Cardiff City defender Deji Oshilaja and ex Gillingham forward Cody McDonald are expected to make their AFC Wimbledon debuts.

It will be a second Dons debut for Oshilaja, who previously played for the club on loan - as has Appiah.

Appiah has been granted some extra time off by Dons boss Neal Ardley due to a late season finish in Norway, where he had been playing his club football.

"It was important for the sake of our season that we gave him that bit of extra-time, so we haven't seen him yet and it'll be like having a new signing over the line," Ardley said.

However, Ardley is really pleased with how Oshilaja and McDonald have adapted since joining the Dons and is looking forward to seeing them in action in Hampshire on Saturday.
