Ghana forward Abdul Majeed Waris says he is delighted with his short-term loan switch to French side Valenciennes but insists his "focus" is on scoring more goals to save the Ligue 1 side.
The 22-year-old completed a six-month loan switch from Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow on Fridayin a bid to improve his club stats before the 2014 World Cup in June.
Waris told GHANAsoccernet.com: "I have come here to play football and score goals to help rescue the club. Moreover I have to work hard as a player and that remains big in my ambitions."
Valenciennes are trapped in the relegation zone with just 14 points from 19 games and will have to quickly propel themselves out of the drop zone.
Waris is expected to mark his debut for the club on January 11 at the Stade du Hainautà when they host Bastia.
