Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris was named in Opta’s statistical XI of the best weekend performers in Europe after netting a brace Valenciennes’ 2-2 with Sochaux in Ligue 1.

Waris played the entire duration and had seven touches inside the box of Sochaux.

He also won five fouls.

Opta decided to play the on-loan Spartak Moscow player on the left side of midfield alongside Manchester City’s Yaya Toure, Jordan Henderson of Liverpool and Robert Snodgrass of Norwich.

    Impressive stuff! To be named in Europe’s best 11 team of the week along with these top-notch players is really a great feat, this shows that Warris is doing something right cuz its not easy at all to be named in such a team along with these great players. However the chap (Warris) gotta improve on certain aspects of his game, I watched their match against PSG last weekend and he struggled a lil bit. Nevertheless he still remains a fantastic player by all standard, I hope he keeps on banging in the goals till the end of the season. 4 goals in 7 matches is a decent record, its good for GH ahead of the WC.
