The Ghanaian Super Cup match between Berekum Chelsea and Nania FC would be played this Sunday to honour the memory of former Liberty Professionals President, Alhaji Sly Tetteh.

This was revealed at a press conference on Friday where it was also disclosed that a percentage of the gate proceeds will be handed to the family of the deceased talent spotter.

The Ghana FA now aims to revive and sustain the one-off season-opener which pits the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup against each other.

“It is part of our program; it is in our regulations and it is unfortunate that all these while we have not been able to play it,” Acting General Secretary of the GFA Emmanuel Gyimah told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“Because the FA Cup had not been played in a while we have been unable to honour the Super Cup but now that the FA Cup is being played you can be rest assured that it will be a regular fixture.”

Last season league winner Berekum Chelsea will now get the opportunity to make a clean sweep of pre-season honours when they face the talented and exciting Division One FA Cup winners, Nania FC.

Winners of Sunday’s game will win a giant trophy names; “The Sly Tetteh Memorial Cup” and a cash prize from a percentage of the gate proceeds.

The ex Liberty Professionals President was responsible for unearthing most of the players in the current Black Stars setup.

His tentacles which knew no boundaries resulted in his outfit setting up academies in Togo and Kenya.

He passed on September 3 while playing an exhibition 'Oldies' game in Cape Coast and was buried the following day in consonance with Islamic customs.

The Ghana FA will be holding a funeral service in his memory dubbed "The Celebration of the Life of Sly Tetteh" on Saturday before the Super Cup match the following day.
