Former Chelsea superstar Michael Essien will make his first appearance in training for Indonesian giants Persib Bandung on Wednesday (tomorrow) after returning to the country to start his career.

Head Coach Djadjang Nurdjaman exempted the team's latest addition, Michael Essien, from the training session on Tuesday.

He received an exception to not participate in today’s training session at Lodaya Football Field.

Djadjang views that the decision to exempt Essien is appropriate, considering that the Ghana-born player had just arrived in Indonesia.

His flight had just landed in Jakarta on Monday evening, March 27, 2017.

Djadjang let the former Chelsea player to taking a rest since Essien would still need to continue his journey to Bandung the following day.

“He isn’t training today, he’s still tired. He’ll start his training tomorrow,” the head coach said.

Today’s training session was the first training the team had after they faced PSMS Medan in a friendly match yesterday.

The team had just arrived on Monday and only received a single day off.

The Ghanaian international moved to the Asian country after six months without a Club having terminated his contract with Greek side Panathiniakos.

Essien also played for Chelsea in England, AC Milan in Italy and Real Madrid in Spain.

He is a product of St. Augustine’s College at Cape Coast. He played for Mighty Victory colts club, Liberty Babies and Professionals in Ghana.
