Ghana surge on Fifa ranking

Posted On Saturday, 27th February 2010

Ghana have been ranked as the 5th best team on the African continent and 27th in the World, according to the latest Fifa ranking released on Wednesday morning which saw them move seven places up.

The Black Stars who finished as silver medalists at the just concluded African Cup of Nations are behind Nigeria, Cameroon and Ivory Coast who Ghana did better than.

The World’s football governing body, Fifa, says the Orange Cup of Nations had a major impact on this month’s rating.

Spain occupy top spot with five-time world champions Brazil and the Netherlands following in that order.
