Ghana will host this year's Glo Caf Awards on December 22, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has confirmed.

The decision to host the prestigious event in Accra was confirmed at a Caf Executive Committee meeting late Wednesday.

Ghana thus earns the rights to host the grand event for a third time after 2007 and 2009.

Ironically, Ghana's nominee for both ceremonies staged in the country for the flagship African Player of the Year, Michael Essien have lost out to Frederic Kanoute and Didier Drogba in both events.

The exact venue to host this year's event is however yet to be determined but has always been held at the International Conference Center whenever it is hosted in Ghana.

As usual, a grand launch is organized in the host city to unveil the list of nominees weeks before the event proper is staged.

The last edition was held in Cairo, Egypt where Cameroon star Samuel Eto'o was adjudged the best player on the continent ahead of Ghana's Asamoah Gyan.
