Ghana to name coach from interviewed trio, Rajevac out

Ghana will name its new national team coach from the three men who were interviewed for the post.

There were suggestions that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) would headhunt for the vacant post with Milovan Rajevac in line for a return.

Marcel Desailly was also reported to in a line for the post after reports that Ghana’s Herbert Addo, Serbian Goran Stevanovic and Humberto Coelho of Portugal failed to impress at the interview.

But GFA spokesman Randy Abbey has brushed aside those concerns insisting the three coaches who were interviews excelled.

“They all did very well. The interviewing committee has taken a decision and it now up to the executive committee to approve it or decline it,” Abbey said.

Three candidates Goran Stevanovic, Humberto Coelho and Herbert Addo were interviewed at the start of the month to replace Serbian Milovan Rajevac.

The coach must be named in time ahead of next month’s international friendly date while some monitoring must be done on the players in Europe.

The key Nations Cup qualifier against Congo in Brazzaville must be won otherwise qualification for the continental tournament would be left a balance.
