Ghanaian trio named in African Player of the Year shortlist

Ghana leads this year’s Caf African Player of the Year Award with three nominations, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The trio; Andre Ayew, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Asamoah Gyan were revealed in a 10-man shortlist for the annual awards at a ceremony in Accra.

Cameroon striker, Samuel Eto’o will however get the opportunity to win the award for a record fourth-time as he is also included in the shortlists which also have the Ivorian trio of Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure and Gervinho.

Also named in the shortlist are Moroccan Adel Taraabt, Moussa Sow of Senegal and Mali’s Seydou Keita.

The shortlist will be pruned further to five before the final three is realized before final award ceremony which will be held on December 22 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.
