Ghana’s medical team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil will be further strengthened with the appointment of famous placenta healer, Marijana Kovacevic, Sports Minister Elvis-Afriyie Ankrah has confirmed.

The Serbian is renowned for her horse placenta treatment which heals injured players quicker than stipulated time and with several players injury prone, her treatment is expected to boost the medical staff.

Asamoah Gyan benefited immensely from her services at the 2012 Nations Cup which resulted in him making a quicker recovery to play in the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

She also helped several Black Stars players to make quicker-than-expected return from injury which has resulted in the decision to bring her back for the World Cup

Kovacevic is part of a ten-member supporting staff which includes a team administrator, physiotherapist, media officer, protocol officer, two national security operatives, therapist, two caterers and drummer/entertainer.

"If you recall in 2010, there was a certain doctor who used placenta to heal the players. The players like her. She is very good so they have requested that we bring her on board," Afriyie-Ankrah said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Ghana FA first engaged her services during the 2010 World Cup after a recommendation by then coach Milovan Rajevac.

She was also at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations where Ghana finished fourth at the tournament co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The Belgrade housewife has treated Premier League stars such as Frank Lampard, Robin van Persie and Glen Johnson at her clinic.
