Ghana’s U-20 team thrashed their Uganda opponents on Saturday to progress in qualification for the 2013 African Youth Championship.

Goals from Richmond Nketia, Ebenezer Attafuah and Emmanuel Gyamfi proved too strong for The Hippos in the game played at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

The Black Satellites needed a result after suffering a 3-1 defeat in the first leg in Nakivubo a fortnight ago.

And they didn’t disappoint before a highly impressive Tamale crowd despite missing a crucial penalty kick early in the game.

Richmond Nketia opened the scoring for Ghana after Jacob Appau had missed the spot kick to give the Black Satellites a slim 1-0 lead by half time.

Ebenezer Attafuah then doubled Ghana’s lead in the second half after several chances were squandered.

Emmanuel Gyamfi wrapped up the win which sees Ghana progress to the ultimate qualification stage on a 4-3 aggregate.

The Black Satelites will no battle Morocco for a spot in the finals to be hosted by Algeria next year.
