Anderlecht star Frank Acheampong says the players from the current Ghana U20 team need strong mentalities in order to make the next step in their careers.

The hugely talented Black Satellites crashed out of the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup at the Round of 16 stage to Mali.

Sellas Tetteh’s side failed in their bid to make at least the last four of the tournament staged in New Zealand.

Several Ghanaian teams in the past see their players go off the radar once they are unable to excel at international tournaments.

But winger Frank Acheampong believes the current crop of player in the Black Satellites which including the promising Clifford Aboagye could become future stars once they maintain a strong mentality.

“They need strong mentality,” Acheampong told Metro TV.

“If you look at the game now about 50-60% of the game is played in the mind.

“So I think if they have a strong mentality they will move on to become better players for Ghana in future.”

Acheampong’s club career was boosted following his relative success with the Ghana U20 team at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey where the Black Satellites won bronze.
