Ghana U20 star Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi will remain at Maritzburg United despite his injury-plagued season.

The South African top flight club confirmed the retention of the 18-year-old after it announced the list of players to be exiting the club in the off-season.

Sarfo-Gyamfi was feared to be on his way out of The Team of Choice after failing to play as many games as expected in the just ended season due to injury.

The Black Satellites winger returned with an ankle injury which infuriated manager Ernst Middendorp after helping Ghana’s U20 team win silver at the African Youth Championships earlier this year.

These fears were however allayed as the former Wa All Stars was not named in the list of departures from the club.

Rather, Mthokozisi Yende, Byrone Hendricks, Wayne Matle and veteran goalkeeper Francis Chansa have been told they are not needed at the club.
