Ghana U20 assistant trainer Yaw Preko has admitted the 18 foreign-based players who trained with them last month failed to meet their standards and they will leave the door opened for more quality.

Eighteen low-profile players based abroad trialled out with the team last month with hopes of impressing the technical team but assistant Yaw Preko has admitted the players were of low quality.

"They did train but I must admit they weren't up to the quality we are looking for," he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

He revealed they will have a look at other stellar foreign-based players as and when they need arises.

"We will have blood in the good guys when the time comes," he added.

Ghana have relied on quality foreign-based players for their squad in major U20 tournaments in the past and Inter Milan's Isaac Donkor and striker Eugene Ansah who plays for Belgian side Lokeren are expected to be handed call-ups.

Already, Granada starlet Clifford Aboagye who won the Bronze Boot at the last edition in Turkey, is a member of the squad.
