Ghana U20 to camp in Barcelona for African Championship

Ghana's Under-20 will hold a camping base at Spanish giants Barcelona next month ahead of this year's African Youth Championship in Libya, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Black Satellites will use facilities at the Camp Nou from 4-10 March before leaving for the tournament.

"We have agreed to train at Barcelona for ten days to sharpen the team for the task ahead and all the foreign-based players invited will join us there,"  Black Satellites management committee chairman Jordan Anagbla told GHANAsoccernet.com

Ghana, reigning African champions, have also line-up three test matches will local sides including a date with Barcelona's Team B.

The deal was brokered by Accra-based sports consortium firm Atlas Sports Management and confirmed by the Black Satellites management team.

"Barcelona Football Club have been nice people and were willing to host the team. There are two other stadia in addition to the main stadium and we have been allocated one during our stay," Atlas Sports Chief Executive and Fifa agent Oliver Arthur told GHANAsoccernet.com

"We have sealed a friendly match against the Barcelona youth team and talks are underway to play the Spain Under-20 side. We hope this can fortify the team to make a successful title defence."

Ghana are drawn in Group B together with Nigeria, Gambia and Cameroon at the tournament which will be played from 18 March- 1 April.
