Ghana U20 women's team get no financial rewards for early World Cup exit
Black Princesses suffered early exit from World Cup

Ghana’s U20 team missed out on receiving financial rewards after failing to make it past the group stage of the FIFA U20 World Cup.

The Black Princesses are not eligible to be paid qualification bonus despite winning two games at the finals being staged in Canada.

Ghana opened its campaign on a flying note by securing a 1-0 win over hosts Canada but were immediately brought down to earth with a crashing 3-0 defeat to Korea DPR.

And even though coach Bashir Hayfor’s side won their final group game against Finland, it wasn’t enough to take them to the next stage on goal’s difference.

Korea DPR and Canada ultimately went through from Group A at the expense of the Black Princesses.

The team therefore missed out on receiving the amount agreed upon as qualification bonus which was only payable from state coffers upon progression.

This means the team will receive no financial rewards despite their historic enhanced performance at the World Cup.

The Black Princesses for the first time in the history of the tournament were able to gather six points but was still sadly not enough to take the team through to the next stage.
