Ghana U23 defender Isaac Honny reveals disappointment in Black Meteors Management Committee before All African Games

Thailand-based Ghanaian defender Isaac Nana Honny says he was hugely disappointed in the Management Committee of Ghana’s U23 side the Black Meteors ahead of the 2015 All African Games.

The Ghana U23 side went to the tournament without any foreign-based player but Honny insists he was told he was part of the team compelling him to move from his base in Thailand to Ghana.

The disgruntled BEC Terro Sasana defender added that he was asked to buy his own ticket and come but when he got to Ghana, almost all the management members turned their back on him.

In an exclusive interview with GHANAsoccernet.com from his base in Thailand, Honny noted that he never expected that treatment from the management.

“It was a very bad experience. I was told to come because I am part of the team. They [Management] told me to fly down and they will pay my ticket. I came but nobody was ready to see me,” Honny said.

“I called all of them but they were not answering. One of the coaches called me and said my name is in the squad so I should come to the camp for us to trash something.”

“On my way to the camp, I saw the list on the FA website and my name was not there. I was very disappointed,” he added.

“I felt really bad because everybody in my team knew I was going to the tournament. But I leave everything to God,” he concluded.

The 22-year old played a key role in the qualification of the team playing in the two-legged tie with Mozambique and Congo Brazzaville in the Olympic Games qualifiers.
