Ghana unveil celebrity ambassadors for 2014 World Cup

Ex Ghana stars Stephen Appiah and Anthony Baffoe were amongst a host of celebrities unveiled as ambassadors to champions Ghana’s off-the-field campaign at the 2014 World Cup.

The official unveiling which was held on Wednesday was to out-door some Ghanaian celebrities who are expected to use their iconic status to promote Ghana and raise funds for several outlined projects of the Sports Ministry.

The ministry intends to raise funds to support their plan of taking supporters to Brazil for the World Cup.

Parts of the funds raised will also be used to finance the audacious ‘Brazil in Ghana’ concept to ensure fans in Ghana are not left out of the excitement surrounding the World Cup.

“They will be making public appearances and will be representing the ministry and government on many platforms to rally support for the team,” Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said.

“We aim to show the Ghanaian character and culture to the rest of the world.

“We also look to raise funds to finance the project of taking supporters to Brazil and also for our Brazil in Ghana concept.

“The numbers of supporters that we will send will depend on the amount of money we are able to raise.”

Some of the celebrities unveiled as ambassadors include musicians Shatta Wale and Becca alongside John Dumelo and Jackie Appiah.
