New Ghana poster boy Bernard Mensah says he wants to punch above his weight after a successful international debut.

The 20-year-old earned his first cap as a second half substitute in the 7-1 drubbing of Mauritius last week in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

In the build-up to that competitive match, he netted his debut on his debut in the 1-0 friendly win over Togo at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mensah has convinced all and sundry about his qualities and now knows he must do more to meet expectations.

"I prayed to score a goal in my debut for Ghana and I did but with all the attention now is the time for me to show more. I have to work harder to maintain. That is the hard part," Mensah told Allsports.com.gh

"I like to dribble and shoot but my first instinct is always to keep it simple because that always moves the game faster for us."

Mensah grabbed the headlines in the Portuguese top-flight after netting five times in 30 appearances for Vitoria Guimaraes.

Managed by influential agent Jorge Mendes, the former Fetteh Feyenoord Academy (WAFA) product has been linked with Manchester United, Juventus and Valencia.
