Ghana winger Albert Adomah says duo Cristhian Stuani and Kike have more than enough quality to spearhead Boroââ¬â¢s automatic promotion charge.
Thatââ¬â¢s the view of Albert Adomah, who captained Boro during Wednesdayââ¬â¢s 3-1 win at Oldham Athletic in the Capital One Cup first round.
Stuani, a ã3.6m signing from Espanyol, scored twice on his first start - and caught the eye in a clinical attacking display from Aitor Karankaââ¬â¢s side.
That was of stark contrast to Sunday when Boro laboured in their Championship opener at Preston, but Adomah has no doubts that Stuani and Kike can lead the teamââ¬â¢s top two tilt.
ââ¬Å(Stuani) is a finisher, like you saw,â⬠Adomah said when asked about the ex-Espanyol forward following the win at Oldham.
ââ¬ÅIf he gets a chance heââ¬â¢ll score, just like Kike.
ââ¬ÅAll of our strikers, if you give them a chance theyââ¬â¢ll score - we just have to create for them.
ââ¬ÅAt the weekend (against Preston) I felt bad for Kike as we didnââ¬â¢t create many chances for him, and sometimes itââ¬â¢s harsh on him as itââ¬â¢s easy to criticise the lone striker.
ââ¬ÅBut today, we saw that if we create chances for any of our strikers, theyââ¬â¢ll finish. It doesnââ¬â¢t matter if youââ¬â¢re worth ã5m, ã1m or ã200, they just have to be given the chances to score.ââ¬
Boroââ¬â¢s attacking options are likely to be further boosted by the arrival of Leicester forward David Nugent, with Riverside chiefs hopeful that a deal can be concluded by the weekend.
The Teessiders are fine-tuning the details of the 30-year-oldââ¬â¢s move to Boro, and have been in discussions with the player since the clubs agreed a fee worth ã4m.
While Boro are confident of getting the deal over the line, the Championship clash against Bolton on Saturday could come too soon for Nugent.
