Ghana winger Ishmael Yartey made a return from a one month lay-off to play for FC Sion to play in their 1-0 narrow win over Russian second-tier side FC Arsenal Tula on Friday afternoon in Cyprus.

The 24-year-old was handed a bite of the cherry in the 15 minutes of the tie after Demetri Christofi had snatched a 21st minute match-winner for the Swiss side.

After missing the games after the 1-0 win over Novara in Italy and the 3-3 stalemate with FC Servette last week, the former Ghana U17 star was brutally efficient on the flanks and saw two fiercely driven shots come off the roof of the net.

"It's good to be back playing. It makes me feel excited. I'll have to work more and more," he told the media after the game.

Sion are currently in Cyprus where they are fine-tuning themselves for the second round of the Swiss Super League.

Former Ghana U20 attacker Ebenezer Assifuah also played in the game for Sion.
