Ghana winger Samuel Tetteh confident of maintaining Black Stars place after Salzburg move

Ghana wideman Samuel Tetteh remaind defiant about his chances of maintaining his place in the Black Stars following his recent move abroad.

Tetteh, 19, completed a four-year deal with Austrian powerhouse Red Bull Salzburg from Ghanaian side WAFA.

The youngster has been farmed out to Liefering - Salzburg's feeder club to gain much experience.

There are fears the hugely talented Ghanaian could lose his position in the Black Stars following his move.

But he is confident of maintaining his place.

"There is only one Ghanaian here - [Lawrence Ati] Zigi," Tetteh told Goal.

"He's with the first team and I'm with second team now.

"But when I came, he was happy for me. He gave me a little bit [of information] about the club.

"He told me a lot and he received me well because we have been teammates in the Ghana U20."

Tetteh then touched on the possible influence of his move on the Black Stars' spot.

"No it won't affect my chances," he said.

"If I'm playing well here, even if it’s the junior side, it doesn't matter.

"The coach [Avram Grant] knows what I can do. I know he sees something in me and that’s why he gave me the chance in the team.

"But I leave everything to him. It's his decision to select me or not.

"For how long [I'll be with the second team], I don't know.

"But it depends on my performance. It's step by step. I just need to work hard and make it to the first team."
