Ghana winger Solomon Asante was one of three players who made a real difference in TP Mazembe’s progress in the CAF Champions League with a hard fought 1-0 win over Sewe Sport.

The DR Congo giants needed to score after suffering a 2-1 defeat in the first leg encounter last week in Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars player joined forces with strikers Thomas Ulimwengu and Mbwana Samata to great effect to elevate the play of the Ravens in the second half after a nervy opening.

Asante won a penalty for his side in 52nd minute after being felled in the box while weaving his way through in the game that also saw fellow Ghanaians Richard Kissi Boateng, Yaw Frimpong and Gladson Awako also playing their part.

Jonas Sakuwaha’s resulting kick was however saved by the Sewe Sport goalkeeper much to the disappointment to the packed crowd in Lubumbashi.

The home fans however got the much required relief of a goal 14 minutes later through striker Samata to the delight of Mazembe President Moise Katumbi in the VIP stands.

Patrice Cateron’s side however failed to consolidate their lead – resulting in a nervy finish as Sewe Sport mounted a late attacking onslaught in search of the equalizer.

TP Mazembe however held on to get the slim win which sees them progress on the away goal’s rule after the tie ended in a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
