Ghana World Cup winger Adomah returns to Middlesbrough despite Nottingham interest
Adomah has returned to Middlesbrough for pre-season

Albert Adomah will not be concerned about interest from Nottingham Forest when he gets his pre-season officially under-way with Middlesbrough this afternoon.

The Ghana international, given an extended break because of his World Cup experience, has been the subject of two offers from Forest already this summer amounting to around £1.5m.

But Boro rebuffed both bids, coming just 12 months after arriving for around the £1m mark from Bristol City, and they are only prepared to listen to offers well in excess of the price they paid.

Aitor Karanka, the head coach, is happy to have Adomah back in his squad and, due to his training schedule in Brazil with his country, he has returned to training in fantastic shape.

After two days of training, the first a double session, at Rockliffe Park, Adomah is expected to be involved at Spotland today when summer signing Kike makes his first appearance on English soil in a Middlesbrough shirt against Rochdale.

Adomah is looking forward to getting back to work.

He said: "The more you enjoy it, the longer your career will last. These maybe only pre-season games, but we'll still have supporters watching, so we have to do our best. There is a game to be won for momentum if nothing else."

Slow movement on the transfer front means Boro are weaker than at the end of last season.

While they have lost Danny Graham, Marvin Emnes, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Jozsef Varga, among others, from their squad, Kike is the only new face.

The Spanish striker, a £2.7m buy from Real Murcia, has settled in after meeting up with his new team-mates on a week's long training trip to Marbella, but Karanka needs further additions.

Sources close to the club have revealed there are a number of discussions taking place between clubs and potential targets, but nothing is particularly imminent at this stage.

The likeliest deal at the moment is the return of Kenneth Omeruo. The Nigerian has told Karanka that he is happy to return for a further loan from Chelsea and he should be in involved when Villarreal visit the Riverside a week today.
