Ghana midfielder Alfred Joseph Duncan made his made his first start for Inter Milan on Tuesday in the Coppa Italia.

The 19-year-old put in an excellent performance as the Nerazzuri beat Hellas Verona 2-0 at the San Siro to move into the quarter-finals.

Duncan could have grabbed the headlines if he had converted an opportunity that came his way.

Prior to that, the teenager had made only two appearances for Andrea Stramaccioni's side in the Serie A as a second-half substitutes.

"It was crucial to win today, so I'm very happy. The missed chance? The ball fell on my right foot, I did my best but the keeper made the save," Duncan told Inter Channel.

"Everyone helped me today, especially the defence who told me where I needed to be. Then when Guarin came on it got a bit easier because he's got great fitness levels."

"It was great, I dreamed of playing at the San Siro and as soon as I saw the fans I felt excited. I'm very happy because I train with great players and know I've still got a lot to work on.

"Where have I come on the most? I'm improving tactically and in terms of my positional sense.

"I found it a bit difficult with only two strikers ahead of me because I'm used to playing with three forwards, but things got better as the game wore on and I found the right position. Will I sleep tonight? Yes, don't worry about that!"

Last month, Duncan made his Ghana debut in a friendly against Cape Verde played in Lisbon, Portugal.
