Ghana youth international Thomas Partey has joined relegated Spanish La Liga side RCD Mallorca on a one-year loan deal, Ghanasoccernet.com can confirm.

Atletico Madrid have farmed out the 19-year-old central midfielder to Mallorca in a bid to help him gain more first team experience.

Partey, who joined Atletico Madrid from Tema Youth four seasons ago, has been growing through the ranks at Atletico Madrid and made a bench appearances for Diego Simone's side last season.

Mallorca are seeking to secure their return to the Spanish top-flight next season and their manager Manzano believes the youngster could be influential to his campaign.

"I am very happy to be here. I will work hard for the RCD Mallorca back to the First Division," Partey told the Spanish media.

The coach and the president have trusted me and I will do everything I can to help the team."

Partey trained with the Ghana U20 squad in Accra in June but failed to secure a place in Sellas Tetteh's final squad that finished third at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.

Mallorca President Lorenzo Serra praised the qualities of the lanky midfielder.

"Thomas is a midfielder, balanced between what is work and recovery defensive offensive able to combine work and how to get there," he said after the player was presented to the club's fans and media.
