Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has joined Belgian side Genk after reaching an agreement with Ghanaian second tier side Tema Youth.

The 20-year-old, who played for Ghana's youth side, moves to the Belgian top-flight side on a four-year contract.

The winger, who spent last season on loan at Hungarian giants Ferencvaros, will have the option for another year at the Luminus Arena.

Genk beat competition from several clubs in the German Bundesliga and the English Premier League to land the talented play maker.

Paintsil is an arrow-fast flank attacker who can also be used in central midfield.

The talented player is seen as the revelation of the Hungarian competition which led to the interest from several clubs in Europe.

In his 27 games for Ferencvaros last season, he scored no less than 10 times and gave 7 assists.

He successfully completed his medical tests last weekend before the agreement was reached with Tema Youth.

Paintsil joins the team at the start of the pre-season preparation and comes in as a replacement for Thomas Buffel and provide extra speed on the flanks.

Despite the heavy competition from Anderlecht and FC Cologne, among others, KRC Genk managed to win the race for the 20-year-old Ghanaian attacker.

Racing Genk made an attempt to get Paintsil to Genk in the winter, but a lack of clarity in the loan with Ferencvaros prevented the transfer.
