Ghana-Zambia revive rivalry as Medeama host Zesco United in Confed Cup
Medeama will clash with Zesco United

Rivalry between Ghana and Zambia will be renewed when Medeama clash with Zesco United in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

Medeama will host their Zambian opponent in the first leg of the penultimate qualifier at the Essipong stadium this weekend.

An emerging rivalry between the two countries date back to recent matches between the countries in the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Black Stars were beaten by the Chipolopolo at the semi-final stage of the 2012 African Cup of Nations held in Gabon and Equitorial Guinea but avenged that defeat by qualifying to the 2014 World Cup at the expense of the Zambian side.

The growing rivalry  between the two African countries  will be tested at club level when Medeama clash with Zesco United in the first leg tie of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

The Ghanaian side have been impressive in their debut season which has seen them manage victories over Panthers FC and former champions Maghreb de Fes.

They will however face a tougher opponent in Zesco United who are wholly owned and sponsored by the state-owned electricity supplier Zesco.
