Ghanaian-born American star Freddy Adu failed to land a deal at English Championship side Blackpool after failing to impress on a three-week trial.

The 24-year-old was hoping to convince Blackpool boss Barry Ferguson to hand him a permanent contract at the Bloemfield Road but he could not impress during his trial period.

Adu starred in two closed-door fixtures for Blackpool but could not do enough to earn a deal for him.

Ferguson told the Blackpool Gazette: "There is nothing happened with Freddy.

"He's come in and worked hard with us. He is a great lad but I'm more than happy with what I've got. I have a strong squad."

Adu is a free agent after being released by MSL side Philadelphia Union.
