Ghanaian-born Dutch international Timothy Fosu-Mensah has been named among the Best 50 Young Players in the World.

The former Ajax youth defender is the highest-ranked young player from England’s elite division alongside his Manchester United teammate Angel Gomes.

The versatile defender made his Manchester United first team debut against Arsenal last season under Louis Van Gaal, but has struggled for game time under Portuguese trainer Jose Mourinho.

He joins the likes of AS Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe who has been on the radar of several European clubs, Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan, Dormund’s Christian Pulisic and Real Madrid young sensation Martin Odegaard.

The 18-year-old was invited for the Oranje's friendlies against Ireland, Poland and Austria in June but he failed to honour it due to injury, leaving him eligible to play for the four-time African champions.

The Ghana Football Association months ago were believed to have made attempts to convince the player to represent his native country.
