Ghanaian-born Italian striker Mario Balotelli recorded a historic strike for his side Nice in the French Ligue 1 after scoring their 3000th goal in the French top flight.

The Italian international opened the scoring in this evening’s clash with Lille after just five minutes to record the landmark for the side.

It was Super Mario’s 22nd goal of the season in all competitions, but it’s also a landmark goal for Les Aiglons.

Balotelli’s goal is Nice’s 3000th goal in the French top flight, making them the seventh team to achieve that feat in Ligue 1.

The others are Marseille, St Etienne, Bordeaux, Sochaux, Monaco and Lyon.
