Ghanaian defender Christopher Avevor delighted to return after one-year absence with injury

Fortuna Dusseldorf defender Christopher Avevor is happy to be back after a year absence with a knee injury.

The 23-year-old, who plays for German Bundesliga II side Fortuna Fortuna Dusseldorf, suffered a serious knee injury in November last year.

His return to the pitch has been long but after featuring for the side in their 1-0 win over Schalke Under-23 on Tuesday, the Ghanaian defender feels delighted to have staged a comeback.

‘That was definitely amazing. I have had two previous operations and I am happy to be back on the court. Finally, I was nevertheless having small problems but we won with a good fighting spirit and it was outstanding.’ Avevor told RP

He is seen as a rising star with the German ranks and has had stints with Hannover 96 and St Pauli in the lower divisions.

Avevor was born to a Ghanaian father and German mother and has played for the national youth team.
