French-born Ghanaian youth defender Dennis Appiah says Caen had to work for their 2-1 win over Montpellier in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old former AS Monaco starlet scored high marks (7.12/10) in his sixth consistent start of the season as Caen triumphed and move into the top-four zone.

Caen needed a stoppage-time strike from former Wigan Athletic forward Andy Delort to claim the maximum points at stake and record their third win of the season (second straight).

And, Appiah reveals Caen had to study the opposition in segments before finally defusing their defence in the dying embers of the game.

"We studied their style of play in the first half and we stripped them finally in the on the second-half," he told reporters in the post-match interview.

Appiah was born to Ghanaian parents in French city of Toulouse to Ghanaian parents and has represented the European giants at various youth levels (U16 - U20).

He could switch his nationality to play for Ghana's Black Stars if approached by the Ghana Football Association.
