Ghanaian defender Gideon Baah scored to help HJK Helnsinki to the finals of the Finish Somen Cup with a 2-1 victory at IFK Mariehamn on Saturday.

The full-back opened the scoring after 29 minutes with a superb effort.

Baah’s form since joining the Finnish champions has been on the rise and once again alerted several clubs of his immense potential by scoring on Saturday – a feature he seems to be developing to his game besides his core duty as a defender.

HJK raced into a 2-0 lead six minutes into the restart with Macoumba Kandji hitting the target.

Klubi were however put under immense pressure late on when Luis Solignac pulled one back for Mariehamn.

Mika Lehkosuo’s side held on nevertheless to seal their progress in the cup competition.

HJK will now battle fellow Premiership side Inter Turku in the grand finale of this season’s Somen Cup competition.
