Swedish youth international of Ghanaian descent Joseph Baffo scored the opening goal for Eintracht Braunschweig in their 4-0 friendly win over Lokomotive Leipzig on Thursday evening at the Bruno-Plache-Stadion.

The 22-year-old center-back who can also play as a lateral defender headed the Bundesliga II campaigners into the lead with brazing effort in the 4th minute before Danish forward Mads Hvilsom scored twice to end the first-half in Braunschweig's favour.

Braunschweig have been gunning for promotion back into the German top-flight after being relegated two seasons ago and Baffo has been at the fulcrum of their defence playing crucial part of their season games.

He has played 8 out of Braunschweig's 10 games of the season since joining from Swedish Allsvenskan side Halmstad BK.

Baffo revealed last week he has been contacted by the Ghana FA after excelling with Sweden at the 2015 Euro U21 Championship.

He is at the club with German-born Ghanaian defender Philemon Ofosu-Ayeh who has earned his debut Ghana call-up.

Ayeh was born to a Ghanaian father and a German mother and had declared his interest in playing for Ghana but failed to grab the attention of former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

But Israeli gaffer Avram Grant has included the 24-year-old in his squad to face Canada in an international friendly scheduled for next week.
