Ghana defender Joseph Baffo faces a long spell out after tests confirmed he suffered a cross-band injury in the 1-0 win over VfL Bochum on Saturday.

In the stoppage time of the game against VfL Bochum, Baffo clashed with Bochum striker Robbie Kruse. In the unfortunate situation, the Braunschweig defender turned his left knee, stayed with a pain-distorted face and had to be carried away with the stretcher from the field.

And the first fears of the Braunschweiger coaches were confirmed on Monday. In the case of a nuclear spinal tomography, an injury of the cruciate ligament in the left knee was observed.

On Tuesday, a knee specialist in Augsburg carried out further medical checks on the injury as well as the resulting determination of the treatment. And the it proved that the 24-year-old will be sidelined for a month.

"He will not join the group any time soon after suffering what looked like a serious injury." says coach Torsten Lieberknecht.

Baffo moved from Halmstads BK to Eintracht Braunschweige in the summer of 2015, and has since developed into a key member of the team.

Baffo has featured in all of the club's eleven games in the Bundesliga 2 this season.
