Dutch second tier side NEC Nijmegen have offered to take Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah on a two-week trial.

The 26-year-old will travel from his Germany base next week to join the side on the two-week test training.

Appiah is a free agent after leaving second division German side Arminia Bielefeld.

The former Schalke man had four years at the club during which he made over 100 league appearances.

Appiah is a defender who is capable of playing at right back as well as center back positions.

Along with Appiah the Eerste Divisie club have also offered trial to his former colleague Christian Santos and goalkeeper Frank Boeckx who last season played for Belgian club Gent.
