Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Mitch Apau scored a crucial goal that won the maximum points for Westerlo as they edged OH Leuven 3-2 in the Belgian Pro League on Saturday evening.

The 25-year-old restored parity for the Yellow and Blues after Macedonia forward Jovan Kostovski has fired the visitors ahead at the Het Kuipje.

The former KRC Waalwijk defender is starting from where he left off last season with his scoring form after firing a powerful bullet that defrayed off the body of a Leuven defender inside the box.

Westerlo were fighting to get on level terms but the visitors remained solid at the back until Apau furiously fired a rocket of w shot which came off the body of a defender inside the box before scaling in the far right.

While Apau was scoring his first goal of the season, midfielder Samuel Asamoah was sent off in the 92nd minute following a bad challenge on an opposition midfielder.
