Ghanaian Joseph Jackson eyes Black Stars call from Nigeria

Ghanaian defender Joseph Jackson has set his sights on earning a Black Stars call-up after aiding Nigerian side Heartland to win the Federation Cup on Sunday.

The former Heart of Lions man starred against Enyimba as Heartland run away with a slim 1-0 win the oldest competition in the country at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The left-back wants to join the list of Ghanaian players whose impressive displays in Nigeria secured them places in the Ghana national team.

"I was in the Under-23 team some years back, but I'm good enough to play for the Black Stars,'' Jackson told SuperSport.com.

"Some journalists called me from Ghana before the match and I told them confidently that the Cup is for Heartland

"This will earn me more recognition as I seek for a place in the Black Stars."

Ghana's famous goalkeeper Edward Ansah and full-back John Benson won the Cup at Leventis United.

The duo of Arthur Moses and Kwesi Bonsu couldn't win the Cup with defunct Stationery Stores, but were invited based on the performance in the league and Cup.

Enyimba’s legendary goalscorer Joetex Frimpong, who remains the only foreigner to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award was a Cup winner in 2005.
