Ghanaian midfielder Reuben Ayarna will look for other playing opportunities in the United States after  Major League Soccer outfit Colorado Rapids decided not to offer the free agent a contract following his recent trial.

This comes after Colorado Rapids on trials ahead of the 2014 season after leaving the Swedish league.

Ayarna was on trial with the Colorado Rapids, a team that signed a La Liga veteran that plays the same position a few days after Ayarna arrived.

This means Ayarna became surplus to requirement resulting in Rapids decision to allow him to move to another club in search of opportunities.

Ayarna is currently out of contract after his brief tenure at Swedish club BK Hacken ended recently.

However, it would appear a season of MLS action is on the cards for the African footballer.

"I'm here just trying something different," Ayarna told the Colorado Rapids' website when he started trials with Rapids.

"I've been playing in Sweden for five years so I was looking for a change. I was considering interest from here and my agent called me about Colorado I was like, 'okay, I'll give it a tryout and see where it goes," added the Ghanaian, who is actually a product of Boston College.

Ayarna will march straight into the fray, as he is expected to start some of the pre-season friendlies.

"I've been in that situation before and I think the most important thing is the tactics of the coaches," said Ayarna.

"I don't really have to know all the names, at least if I can just communicate right, left, or if somebody can communicate with me, left, right, I think we'll be good," added the midfielder.

Ayarna - a 28 year old Ghanaian - is out of contract with Swedish 1st division side BK Häcken but has spent most of his pro career with GAIS, a team that has bounced between the top flight and the 2nd division during his tenure.

Intriguingly, Ayarna played three seasons with Boston College, garnering ACC All-Freshman honors in 2005 and an All-ACC 2nd Team nod as a sophomore.
