Ghanaian midfielder Isaac Cofie played a crucial role for Carpi when they defeated Fiorentina 1-0 to reach the next stage of the Coppa Italia competition.

The 24-year-old former Genoa midfielder climbed off the bench in the 73rd minute to anchor the midfield for Serie A new-boys as they surprised themselves with a crucial win to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.

Cofie's influence in the second-half improved the Carpi midfield as they pressed harder before scoring the only goal of the game three minutes later through Antonio Di Gaudio who has played six seasons at Carpi.

Carpi await the winner of the tie between Sampdoria and AC Milan for the quarter-final clash.
