Ghana midfielder Isaac Cofie played his first match of the season for Genoa who handed Serie A leaders Juventus a shock defeat on Sunday at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone's son Giovanni Simeone netted twice to help Genoa to a shock 3-1 win.
Cofie was a surprised addition to the first team and did a wonderful job in protecting his back three with a strong defensive performance.
He looked particularly impressive after the break, with the only blemish being a free-kick that he gave away and which resulted in Pjanic's consolation goal for Juventus.
He is expected to feature in the Coppa Italia against Perugia in midweek before a trip to Chievo.
However, his compatriot Kwadwo Asamoah was unused by Juventus.
