Portland Timbers midfielder Kalif Alhassan sat on the sideline and watched the side practice Tuesday with an injury.

The 23-year-old tweaked his knee during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Union Settle.

Timbers coach Caleb Porter would not elaborate on the specific details of Alhassan’s injury, but said that the Timbers would continue to monitor him this week to determine whether he can play against the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

“With Kalif, he had a little niggle at the end of the game, so we’re just being smart with him as well,” Porter said.

“For right now, we’re not sure where those guys are at for the game this weekend.”
