German-born Ghanaian Marcel Appiah was in full time action and help NEC Nijmegen to record a convincing 2-0 victory over Volendam in the Dutch second-tier on Friday night.

The 26-year-old lightening-paced right-back was in fine shape as he gagged the spaces at the side of his role and initiated attacks contributing to Christian Santos' 56th minute goal at the Kras Stadion.

Appiah joined NEC from German side Arminia Bielefeld on a season's deal and has started and completed both games NEC have played in the opening weeks of the Dutch Eerste Divisie season.

NEC were relegated from the Dutch top-flight last season and they have acquired Appiah to help them stage a return next season.
