It was a mixed weekend for Ghanaian players as all the league championships across the globe returned from a long recess.

Following Thomas Agyapong's return from injury last week, there was an another exciting injury news this weekend as Caleb Ekuban graced the pitch after three months on the sidelines.

The importance of Albert Adomah to Aston Villa also came to bear after the Villans lost for the first time more than six games in the Ghanaian absence.

Dauda Mohammed made his second appearance for Anderlecht but failed to inspire them victory as they were downed 1-0 at Sint Truiden.

Lastly, Alhassan Wakaso's 100th appearance in the Portuguese Primeira Liga ended in shame as he picked a direct red card in just 29 minutes on the clock.

ENGLAND

Collins Quaner lasted full period for Huddersfield Town in their 2-0 loss against Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Daniel Amartey missed Leicester City 1-0 victory over Sheffield United through injury.

Jordan Ayew made a cameo appearance for Swansea City in their goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup. Andre Ayew meanwhile, was cup-tied hence could not take feature for the Swans.

In the Championship, Caleb Ekuban returned from a long term injury to play 45 minutes for Leeds United as they fought back from a two-goal down to draw 2-2 with Bristol City at the Elland Road.

Dennis Odoi made a cameo appearance for Fulham FC as they ended Aston Villa’s five-match winning streak. Albert Adomah missed the game for the Villans through injury.

Phil Ofosu-Ayeh missed Wolves 1-1 draw at Preston North End through injury.

In League One, Bernard Mensah warmed the bench for Bristol Rovers in their 1-0 loss at AFC Wimbledon. Kwesi Appiah missed the match for the victors through injury.

Tarique Fosu was not included in Charlton Athletic squad that defeated Milton Keynes Dons 2-1. Joe Dodoo was not included in the Addicks match day squad.

In League Two, Hiram Boateng was introduced at half time for Exeter City in their 1-0 loss at home against Mansfield.

Elsewhere in the lower leagues, Nana Ofori-Twumasi and Darius Osei warmed the bench for Maidstone in their 1-0 loss against Barrow.

Kwame Thomas registered his name on the score sheet for Solihull in their 3-2 win against Dover Athletic. Nortei Nortey lasted 61 minutes for the losers.

Young goalkeeper Declan Appau was an unused substitute for Woking in their 3-2 defeat at Hartlepool.

Harold Odametey played full minutes of action for Maidenhead in their 3-1 win at Guiseley. Nana Owusu was not added to the victors match day squad.

Koby Arthur missed Macclesfield squad that defeated Aldershot Town 2-1 away through injury. 

SPAIN 

Mubarak Wakaso missed the match day squad for Deportivo Alaves in their 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna through a minor knock.

Thomas Partey was in his usual element for Atletico Madrid as they defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Emmanuel Boateng was not included in UD Levante match day squad that lost 3-0 at Real Sociedad.

In the Segunda Division, Yaw Yeboah did not make the match day squad for Real Oviedo as they drew goalless with Albacete.

ITALY

Kwadwo Asamoah enjoyed full throttle for Juventus in their 1-0 win over Torino in the Derby della Mole. Afriyie Acquah made a cameo appearance for the Walter Mazzari's men.

Alfred Duncan lasted 70 minutes for Sassuolo in their 2-1 loss at Bologna. Godfred Donsah warmed the bench for the Rossoblu. Claude Adjepong warmed the bench for the losers.

Cofie was an unused substitute for Genoa in their 2-0 victory over struggling Inter Milan at the Luigi Fererris Stadium. 

In the Serie B, Yusif Rahman Chibsah lasted full 84 minutes for Frosinone in their 2-0 win over Ascoli. Emmanuel Besea was not added to the victors squad while Bright Addae enjoyed full throttle for the losers.

Isaac Donkor warmed the bench for AC Cesena in their 1-0 loss to Cittadella.

Moses Odjer missed the match day squad for Salernitana in their goalless draw with Pro Vercelli through injury.

In Serie C, Ransford Selasi made a cameo appearance for Lecce in their goalless draw with Sicula Leonzio.

FRANCE

Enock Kwarteng waa not included in Nantes squad that recorded a 1-1 stalemate at OGC Nice.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi kept his place in goal for Sochaux Montbilliard in their 3-2 victory over Le Havre. Ebenezer Assifuah lasted 67 minutes for the losers.

Grejohn Kyei made a cameo appearance for Stade Reims as they kept their grip on top spot of Ligue 2 after beating GFC Ajaccio. 

GERMANY 

Bernard Tekpetey warmed the bench for Schalke 04 in their 2-1 win over TSG Hoffenheim. Baba Rahman missed the match through minor knee knock.

Defender Joseph Baffo missed Eintracht Brauschweig 1-0 win over Union through injury. Steffen Nkansah was not included to the victors squad.

Marcel Appiah warmed the bench for VfL Osnabruck in their 3-2 win at Lotte.

Agyemang Diawusie lasted 59 minutes for SV Wehen Wiesbaden in their 1-0 loss at Fortuna Koln. Michael Akoto was not added to the visitors match day squad.

AUSTRIA

Kadiri Mohammed played 90 minutes for Austria Vienna as they lost 2-1 at Mattersburg.

David Atanga played the entire duration of St. Polten 4-0 loss against his parent club, Red Bulls Salzburg.

Majeed Ashimeru lasted full throttle for AC Wolfberger in their 3-1 loss at home to Admira.

Samuel Tetteh was in electrifying form for LASK Linz as they defeated AC Altach 2-0 at home. He was taken off in the 82nd minute.

AZERBAIJAN 

Richard Gadze was involved in Zira 2-1 loss at Gabala.

BELGIUM

Bernard Kumordzi was excellent at the heart of defense for Kortrijk in their 1-0 win at Lokeren.

William Owusu Acheampong did not make Royal Antwerp squad that drew goalless with Oostende.

Samuel Owusu enjoyed full throttle for Waasland-Beveren as they defeated giants Anderlecht 1-0 at home. Dennis Appiah picked a booking but played full minutes while Dauda Mohammed came on as a 62nd minute substitute. Francis Amuzu meanwhile watched the game from the bench.

Nana Opoku Ampomah lasted 87 minutes for Waasland-Beveren in their 2-2 draw with Mouscron.

Joseph Aidoo played the entire duration of the game for KRC Genk in their 2-2 stalemate with Club Brugge.

Nana Kwesi Asare was not added to KAA Gent squad that drew 2-2 with KV Mechelen.

Eric Ocansey played full action for KAS Eupen in their 3-2 loss at Zulte Waregem. Goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen was not added to the loser’s match-day squad.

In the Proximus League, Collins Tanor made a cameo appearance for Beerschot Wilrijk in their 1-1 draw with OH Leuven. Kamal Sowah was not added to OH Leuven match day squad.

Obeng Regan was introduced at half time for Inter Zapresic in their 2-0 loss at Rudes.

Ahmed Said lasted 71 minutes for Hadjuk Split in their 1-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Benjamin Tetteh was not included in Bohemians 1905 match day squad that beat Brno 1-0 at home. 

CYPRUS

Francis Narh and Benjamin Asamoah enjoyed full 90 minutes for Doxa in their 1-1 stalemate with Paphos.

DENMARK

Moro Ibrahim enjoyed full minutes for Silkeborg in their 1-1 stalemate with Lyngby.

Ernest Asante provided an assist for FC Nordjaelland in their 2-1 win against OB Odense. Jonathan Amon was not added to the victors match day squad while Godsway Donyoh missed the game through injury.

Kelvin Mensah warmed the bench for Brondby in their 1-1 stalemate at Aalborg.

FINLAND

Evans Mensah and Anthony Annan played their parts in HJK Helsinki 5-1 win over KTP in the Suomen Cup.

Abdul Bashiru was heavily involved in FK Prishtina 2-0 win over KF Llapi.

Goalkeeper Nana Bonsu warmed the bench for Enugu Rangers in their 1-0 victory over El Kanemi.

Thomas Boakye enjoyed 90 minutes of action for his new side Hamstald in their 1-1 draw with Oddevold in the Swedish Svenska Cup
